About Me
My name is Rex and I am a licensed physical therapist(PT) and certified hand therapist (CHT). I particularly like working with shoulder patients because I was one! In 1998 I sustained a torn rotator cuff while throwing a football with some friends. Now that’s not a seemingly dangerous activity, but I had developed a “type III” acromium, which is basically a bone spur at the end of my clavicle. About a month later I developed a frozen shoulder (ouch!). This happended for a couple of reasons: One, I neglected to have my shoulder properly moblized each day because I was too busy treating other patients. Two, I was new, and frankly a little naive and didn’t perform my exercises each day. That changed however as my shoulder got stiffer and stiffer! I guess you could say this was a fortunate thing because it allowed me to explore various treatment techniques on myself. Over the weeks and months I developed some pretty good techniques which eventually allowed me to regain full motion and function in my shoulder.
I began this blog as an extension of my practice and because no one should suffer unduly from shoulder pain. In this blog I will discuss various aspects of different shoulder conditions and the treatment techniques that I have found to work over the years. From time to time I will make recommendations of programs or products that may assist someone in overcoming their frozen shoulder.
I must add that this blog/site is not meant to be a substitute for seeing a physician and getting treatment. Any techiques, information, or products used as a result of reading this blog are at the risk of the reader and I will not be held responsible in any way for injuries that may arise in the reader. Always consult your physician before beginning any exercise program.
